The State Minister of the Interior, Thomas Strobl, recently honored W+S Solutions GmbH from Nendingen as a “volunteer-friendly employer in civil protection.” The award ceremony took place in Rottenburg am Neckar.

The family-run company with around 40 employees has been setting a strong example for social commitment and the promotion of volunteer work for years – in particular, its close connection to the Tuttlingen Volunteer Fire Department, Nendingen division. “Several members of the emergency response department – including a platoon leader, two group leaders, and a member of the command staff – are employed by W+S Solutions. Despite the operational importance of these skilled workers, the company allows us to take time off at any time for emergency responses, drills, or training courses,” emphasized employee Daniel Weininger, who is also active in the volunteer fire department. This means that the company does without around ten percent of its workforce in the event of an emergency.

In addition, W+S Solutions GmbH in the Nendingen industrial area regularly makes its premises available for exercises or as a parking lot for larger events. “This is an extraordinary sign of solidarity and willingness to take responsibility. This active support for civil protection goes far beyond the usual and shows how closely entrepreneurial success and social commitment can be linked,” said State Interior Minister Strobl.

At the award ceremony, the Minister of the Interior also emphasized that these employers are “the backbone of civil protection.” Only through the understanding and support of such companies can volunteer work in this form continue to exist.

"For us, volunteering is not an obstacle, but an enrichment—for our employees, the company, and the community. This honor motivates us to continue making our contribution with conviction," emphasized proud Managing Director Jonathan Wernz.

With this state award, W+S Solutions GmbH joins an exclusive group of companies in Baden-Württemberg that are particularly committed to volunteering in civil protection.
